"Go your own way"

Drawing

Illustrating the ever-changing nature of life—constant, cyclical, often uncertain and rhythmical—these works trace the artist’s intimate dialogue with the present moment as she journeys through the Maritimes during her first artist residency in Halifax in 2017. Out on a creative quest to study the relationship between identity and space, Laura immerses herself into her surroundings. Being present requires welcoming the energy and emotions that flow in and around you. Sometimes a lesson in detachment or simply a quiet moment of contemplation, drawing becomes a meditative call to surrender to what is, and open up to the unexpected.
